Genoa – Experience a Mixture Of The Old And New

Genoa is the beautiful capital city of Liguria, which is situated around the north-western coast of Italy. Genoa is a city of art situated as a metropolis facing the sea. The city grew around a port, which is a natural inlet and is a place of heavy traffic and business exchanges. The antique heart of the city is the biggest medieval historic centre in all of Europe. At this heart, a tight network of lanes are brought together to create the multicultural soul that has characterized the city's history.

Do not miss a visit to the Palazzi dei Rolli which is also a spot on the Unesco World Heritage list. At this site, you will experience sumptuous dwellings which will revive the atmosphere that existed in Genoa during the 1600s and 1700s.

Genoa has many places that were renovated and restored to bring modern life into the scene. Some of these places include the aquarium that is part of the Expo, which you can visit through San Lorenzo and Palazzo Ducale. Also included is the 'splendid', which you can visit through Garibaldi and this place is full of museums. Furthermore, from Nervi to Voltri, you can experience the fascination of the city. Here you will find independent municipalities that are as old as the twenties. These municipalities are full of villas located in the centre of the 19th century parks, beautiful sea walks, and more museums.

Moving on, Golfo Paradiso is a sea front that is known internationally for its exotic beauty with intense and multiple color blotches clinging to the rocks. This sea front has small villages as well as large centers and you can find colorful fishermen houses which make the coast even more unique. Several small beaches alternate this coastal stretch and they have rocks that are covered with trees and shrubs. Furthermore, this coastline is home to a great marine tradition of the country. This tradition includes many small fishing boats that have spread their nets out under the sun. Here you will also find the centre of the marine museum.

The valleys that surround Genova originate from the sea and extend to the Apennines while passing through the rivers Scrivia, Polcevera and Leira. These valleys have a few noble dwellings and villas that were built during the previous centuries by influential noble families of the city who liked spending their holidays here. The city is a tourist attraction even today because of its peaceful small centers, mild climate and beautiful countryside. Furthermore, holiday-makers like visiting Genoa because of its long walking paths, horse riding, bike riding, and amazing food stores.

In addition, there is a lot of history of the age-old abbeys to be seen in the small villages. You will also find turreted castle that exhibit estates such as Campo Ligure and Casella which are known for their filigree work. In a nutshell, Genova exhibits amazing examples of how the work of man blends with the natural environment, military techniques, and the constructive economy.
