5 Reasons Why Americans Prefer the Cinque Terre for Their Vacations!

The wonderful Cinque Terre is a Mediterranean storybook landscape with lush vegetation, rolling hills, and a lively atmosphere of friendly locals who always out and about. The villages are really a modern marvel, with gigantic stone architecture that is said to be on-par with the scale of China’s Great Wall.

Wherever you go, there is plenty of things to see and do, in-town, around town, and out to sea. American tourists mention these hotspots the most, when visiting the great Cinque Terre.

1. Coastal Hiking

You’ll find lots of hiking trails that allow you to really appreciate the wonder beaches of Cinque Terre. Riomaggiore and Manarola, in particular have one of the best mood-setting paths in the world called Via Dell’Amore, the street of love. There’s even a place along the path that lets lovers or best friends write their names on a famous wall to leave their mark for as long as it stands. Afterwards, there is a popular tourist spot that has a statue of two lovers kissing that offers the best postcard picture opportunity.

2. Wine and Dine

Experience the finest Italian cuisine by taking a trip to the village of Groppo. You’ll get only the freshest, local ingredients that use recipes passed down from generation to generation. Couple your meal with a variety of wine pairings from its famous vineyards. The tastes and smells will almost make you feel guilty for how affordable everything is, compared to 5-star restaurants back in America.

3. Get Closer to Nature

The village of Corniglia sits atop a hills that gives a unique perspective, peering over the sea. It’s best to travel by the bus that runs from the Cinque Terre National Park, where you’ll undoubtably be spending a good amount of time, enjoying the beautiful plants and animals. If you take any of the trails outside of Corniglia, you’ll be greeted by more amazing trees and flowers, like: lemon trees, olive vines, lilies, wild vegetables, and more. The aroma that combines with the sea breeze is divine. You’ll be wanting to bottle it up and take it with you back home.

4. Enjoy the Nightlife

Take the Blue Trail from Corniglia to Vernazza for a challenging hike up mountainous terrain, you’ll get some of the best scenic views of the villages. Upon arrival, Vernazza will light-up your eyes and have you smiling from ear-to-ear. Don’t be fooled by its small town charm, this place is a little firecracker with lots of people to see and things to do. White sandy beaches fill-up with beautiful bodies, boating, and a little private corner to chill in the water with calm waves and quiet atmosphere.

5. Lap up the Luxury

If you’re looking for a proper beach escape, look no further than the village of Monterosso. It’s the most popular tourist spot preferred by Americans at the Cinque Terre for vacations. It has the most extravagant hotel accommodations and fancy restaurants, too. If you love music, you’ll love the lively bars and dives that are always booming with great live bands, karaoke, and rich coffee to keep you moving. At night, you’ll often find popular traditional Italian gigs leaking out into the cobblestone streets. Monterosso’s beaches are amazing, there’s always people having fun, playing volleyball, conversing in one of the large groups of public umbrellas.

You really get the best of both worlds here, the best beaches, the best food, pampering of modern amenities, and great people to share your adventure getaway with along the way. Cinque Terre is a liberating experience that you won’t forget!
